Remember that quarterbacks, scarcity and upside usually drive the football card collecting market, but a few elite non-QB playmakers and unique personalities can gain attention, too.

1. Fernando Mendoza, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

What’s not to like here? Heisman winner. National Champion on one of the biggest sleeper teams ever. No. 1 Overall Pick. Great personality matched with top-notch skills, with Tom Brady as an advisor. Yes, please!

2. Ty Simpson, QB, L.A. Rams

• Card No. 302 – View on eBay!

There’s a huge dropoff after Mendoza, but the Rams were excited to grab Simpson in the first round, and he could be Matthew Stafford’s heir apparent in an awesome offense. The upside is great, considering others will likely be clamoring for cards of young wide receivers and Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love.

3. Carnell Tate, WR, Tennessee Titans

Tate has a chance to develop with sophomore QB Cam Ward in Nashville, which could reap great dividends in a Troy Aikman-Michael Irvin way. Tate combines great speed with high-level route-running, which makes him a target quarterbacks enjoy throwing to.

4. Jordyn Tyson, WR, New Orleans Saints

New Saints head coach Kellen Moore is offensive minded, as a former NFL quarterback himself, and Tyson should be second-year QB Tyler Shough’s favorite target. Tyson is hurt to start the season, but don’t underestimate his rookie card’s value in the coming years.

5. Jeremiyah Love, RB, Arizona Cardinals

The problem is we’ve heard about other generational tailback a few too many times in recent years. What we’ve learned is that guys like Saquon Barkley, Ashton Jeanty and Bijan Robinson can be great, but they might need some years under their belt, surrounded by the right teammates, in the right offense, to become hobby favorites.

6. Makai Lemon, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles moved on from A.J. Brown, but could Lemon become their Amon-Ra St. Brown? A tough guy that finds open space and breaks tackles? The Eagles are perennial contenders, which could mean the USC product should have a high card profile.

7. Jadarian Price, RB, Seattle Seahawks

The guy replacing the Super Bowl MVP on a Super Bowl-winning team is going to get a lot of attention. Thankfully, Price can be explosive, which bodes well for collectors, but he might not be the main back in Seattle in his first year.

8. Carson Beck, QB, Arizona Cardinals

This sleepy-eyed signal-caller heads to the desert to start his pro career after leading pro-style offenses at Georgia and Miami. He’s a big cat that can lead an offense with his arm more than his legs, which portends to a longer NFL career than many dual-threat guys. There’s not a lot keeping him out of the starting lineup in Arizona, and being tied to Marvin Harrison and Love can’t be a bad thing.

9. Kenyon Sadiq, TE, N.Y. Jets

Great rookie tight ends are few and far between, but Sadiq has Kyle Pitts abilities, with Evan Engram speed. It’s tough to buy into a tight end, much less a rookie Jets player, but Sadiq could become an offensive star.

10. Drew Allar, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

If Aaron Rodgers gets hurt (see Jets), the 6-foot-5 Allar might get the call under center in the Steel City. From Penn State to Pittsburgh? He’s a hometown hobby favorite if there ever was one!

11. KC Concepcion, WR, Cleveland Browns

My man can fly, but his skills look more like a deep threat than a high-volume receiver. Plus… Cleveland.
